Rory McIlroy has won the 2025 Masters and becomes the sixth man ever to win a Grand Slam, but he had already established himself as one of Ireland's most successful sports stars.
McIlroy beat Justin Rose in the play-off at Augusta National to claim his first ever green jacket.
The win adds to his huge net worth as he collects $4.2 million USD for the win.
In a truly emotional moment on the 18th green, McIlroy, 35, birdied the first hole of the playoffs and fell to the ground in flood of tears.
Speaking about the moment he won, McIlroy said: "There was a lot of pent up emotion that just came out on the 18th green. But a moment like that makes all of the years and close calls worth it."
In 2023, the Sunday Times Rich List estimated McIlroy's net worth to be a staggering £225m. Other sources, including Forbes, have suggested slightly lower figures.
McIlroy tends to keep his private life away from social media and public scrutiny.
However, he recently became only the second golfer to exceed an incredible $100m (£77.3m) in prize money. His win at the Players Championship and his strong showing at the Houston Open last month helped him reach this milestone.
Only Tiger Woods has earned more prize money in golf than McIlroy.

His car collection is thought to be worth well over £1 millions, with the star being a Lamborghini Aventador, valued from £456,300.
His impressive collection also includes a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, valued at £280,800, a rare Ferrari F430 valued between £93,600 and £105,300, BMW i8, which could reach £117,000 and Range Rover Sport worth up to £117,000.
