LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The first five years of a child's life are crucial for establishing a strong foundation for growth and development.
To bridge the gap between families and early childhood development services, First 5 Nevada, in partnership with the UNLV Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program and the College of Southern Nevada Early Childhood Education Programs, is hosting the First 5 Nevada Early Childhood Screening & Connection Event.
The event, which marks the one-year anniversary of First 5 Nevada, will offer free screenings for young children. Importantly, families will receive on-site referrals to resources.
The event includes a variety of screenings where healthcare providers can identify potential concerns, allowing parents to take action early.
These screenings provide valuable insight into a child's progress and ensure that children receive the right support and interventions when needed.
"Developmental screenings are a proactive approach to supporting young children as they grow and develop," said Marty Elquist, Chief Programs Officer at The Children’s Cabinet. "First 5 Nevada was created specifically to ensure families have access to programs and services at the time they need them. As we celebrate our first anniversary at First 5 Nevada, we are excited to host an in-person event where parents can interact with professionals to ensure their children meet their potential and have every chance at a successful life."
