Offaly woman was driving uninsured car while eight times over the legal drug limit
A Daingean woman who drove while under the influence of drugs was eight times the legal limit, Judge Andrew Cody noted at last week's Tullamore District Court.
In his evidence Sergeant Richard Thornton said that on July 18, 2024 he stopped Linda Evans, (35) of Bells Well, Daingean, on the Daingean Road.
She was driving at a speed of 66 kilometres in a 50 kilometre zone. A roadside test was carried out and a blood sample later revealed she was driving over the drug limit. She was also driving an uninsured car.
Ms Evans, who works in a take away, had no previous convictions and had family difficulties, her solicitor Patrick Martin said. He said she did have insurance prior to this.
Judge Cody fined Ms Evans €200 and disqualified her from driving for one year.
He told her that driving without insurance while intoxicated is very serious.
