NS2PC launches rooftop solar project for a greener tomorrow

The company estimates that the project will significantly reduce CO2 emissions, contributing to global and local environmental protection plans.

Nghi Sơn 2 Power Limited Liability Company (NS2PC) held the inauguration ceremony for its Rooftop Solar Power Project on March 28.

Nghi Sơn 2 Power Limited Liability Company (NS2PC) held the inauguration ceremony for its Rooftop Solar Power Project in Thanh Hóa Province on March 28, integrating a 1,152 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and a microgrid control system.

NS2PC's rooftop solar power project has a maximum design capacity of 518 kWp, installed at the company's staff and worker housing area.

Equipped with the battery energy storage system and microgrid control system, the project will maximise the utilisation of abundant solar radiation in the area, ensuring optimal energy management by storing excess electricity during periods of high solar radiation and reusing it during times of low solar radiation or high energy demand.

This combination highlights NS2PC's commitment to adopting advanced technology to harness renewable energy effectively.

The company estimates that the project will significantly reduce CO2 emissions, contributing to global and local environmental protection plans. BESS enhances energy reliability and reduces dependence on the power grid, especially during peak hours, while also lowering long-term costs and supporting environmental sustainability.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Chung Kook Choi, President and CEO of NS2PC, stated: "This project is not just an investment in renewable energy but a clear demonstration of NS2PC's commitment to sustainability and innovation in production and business operations, fully aligning with Vietnam's national strategy for carbon neutrality."

Nghi Sơn 2 Power Limited Liability Company (NS2PC) held the inauguration ceremony for its Rooftop Solar Power Project on March 28.

"Sustainability is not just a goal but a fundamental principle guiding our operations and future development. With this solar energy project, we are not only promoting technology but also taking responsibility for the environment and our future generations. This is an important step toward reducing carbon emissions, strengthening energy security, and supporting Vietnam's green transition," he added.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mai Xuân Liêm, acknowledged NS2PC's pioneering efforts in investing in the first solar power system integrated with battery storage in Thanh Hoa province. He recognised the system's role in ensuring optimal energy management and highlighted the company's responsibility and commitment to advancing production in a greener, cleaner direction.

The Vice Chairman emphasised that Thanh Hóa is planned to be an energy hub for the region and the country. However, the proportion of renewable energy sources remains relatively low. He noted that NS2PC's rooftop solar power project aligns with Vietnam's policies on sustainable development and green energy transition, including commitments made at the COP26 Conference to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and reaffirmed at COP29 through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

To ensure the safe and effective operation of the project, he requested NS2PC to comply with electricity and fire prevention regulations. He also encouraged the company to continue researching and implementing larger-scale solar energy projects at the Nghi Sơn 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant, exploring opportunities to expand the renewable energy investment portfolio and collaborating with like-minded organisations to accelerate green production transformation.
