Spring stars shine in latest Tim Thompson Premier Performers list

FRANKLIN – This week’s list of the Tim Thompson Premier Performers featured high school standouts in softball, baseball, basketball and track and field from around Williamson County for the week ending March 24.

Kael Barney, Nolensville

The junior helped the Knights go 4-1 last week including taking a District 10-4A series against Page. Barney was 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs in a 12-5 series clincher over the Patriots and closed the week with six runs scored.

Gabrielle Boutros, Page

The senior runner clinched the 800-meter title at the March Madness meet at Ravenwood last week with a time of 2 minutes, 17.83 seconds – less than a second off her personal best. Her twin sister Sophia was runner-up in 2:18.20.

Brandon Brooks, Nolensville

The senior won the triple jump by two feet with a leap of 46 feet, 10 inches at the March Madness meet at Ravenwood. He cleared 21-10.25 in the long jump to finish second.

Olivia Braden, Page

The junior outfielder batted 4-for-7 with two doubles and three runs scored to lead the Patriots to a 5-4 win over Brentwood and a 9-7 victory against Summit. Her two-run single in the fourth inning against the Bruins triggered a four-run frame to tie the game, while her double opened up a four-run third inning to take a big lead over the Spartans.

Lila Driver, Brentwood

The senior outfielder batted .571 over three games as Brentwood topped Independence and Ravenwood but suffered a narrow loss against Page in a busy week of District 10-4A play. Driver was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI against the Raptors – a 9-3 victory – to highlight the week.

Harris Hall, Independence

The junior scored nine points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Eagles in a 40-36 loss to Whitehaven in the Class 4A state quarterfinals last week in Murfreesboro.

Michael Holt, Ravenwood

The first baseman went 6-for-12 in four games, including a series sweep of Centennial in District 10-4A action last week. He doubled twice, homered twice, drove in four runs and scored eight runs with two stolen bases highlighted by his 2-for-2 performance with the pair of homers, four runs scored and three RBIs in a 10-7 win over Grace Christian Academy to close the week.

Marina Mason, Brentwood

The senior pitcher went 2-1 in three complete games in the circle striking out 41 with only five earned runs through the 21 innings for a 1.67 ERA and 0.81 WHIP as the Bruins stayed near the top of the District 10-4A standings.

MacKenzie Smith, Page

The sophomore first baseman provided a solo homer in the sixth inning to give the Patriots the lead in a 5-4 District 10-4A win over Brentwood last week. In a 9-7 victory over Summit, Smith doubled twice with two RBI. She scored three runs in the two wins.

Lorelai Whitten, Summit

The freshman set her personal best in the 1,600-meter run at Ravenwood’s March Madness meet by closing the four-lap race in 5:02.98, which was about 10 seconds faster than her debut outdoor 1,600 at the Dickson County Opener on March 7. Whitten was third in the 800 in 2:22.20.
