FM Hasani: Opening of EIB Office in Albania Sends a Strong Message of Confidence for the Economic Climate

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, stated today that the opening of the European Investment Bank (EIB) office in Albania sends a powerful message of confidence in the country’s economic climate.

During the presentation of the draft law "On the ratification of the agreement between the Republic of Albania and the European Investment Bank regarding the opening of the EIB office in Albania," Hasani highlighted the importance of the legislation for Albania’s economic development and European Union integration.

This is a pivotal moment to strengthen our relationship with the EU and deepen our financial and developmental cooperation with the EIB, one of the most respected institutions in Europe,” Hasani said.

He explained that the draft law aims to ratify the agreement between Albania and the EIB for opening the office, marking a significant opportunity to advance Albania’s path toward EU integration and sustainable development.

Hasani stressed that the agreement holds particular importance for Albania, as it "opens doors for further financing and support for key projects that will foster economic growth and improve the living standards of our citizens".

The opening of the EIB office in Tirana will accelerate the implementation of strategic projects in areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy, digitalization, healthcare, and education,” he added.

He also emphasized that the agreement will support sectors prioritized by the Albanian government, including assistance for small businesses and women entrepreneurs.

The EIB’s presence in Albania sends a strong message of confidence in our economic climate and demonstrates the Albanian government’s commitment to sustainable development,” Hasani said.

This move will create new opportunities to accelerate reforms and strengthen regional integration, contributing to the progress of the entire Western Balkans,” he continued.

The EIB will provide financing and technical assistance to ensure that strategic projects are completed on time and in line with international standards.

Politically, the opening of the EIB office is another opportunity to consolidate relations and strengthen Albania’s partnership with the EU, sending a clear signal that Albania is a reliable partner and is on the right track toward full EU integration.
