NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A South Florida tax preparer appeared in federal court on Wednesday to face allegations of filing false income tax returns.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) said Jimmy Desir, 46, is accused of orchestrating a scheme to defraud the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Desir was arrested on an indictment charging him with 22 counts of assisting in the preparation of false and fraudulent tax returns through his tax preparation business, A1 Plus Financial Services, Inc. in North Miami Beach.
According to the indictment, Desir allegedly included false entries on his customers’ tax returns over several years. These entries reportedly involved false fuel tax credits, false education credits, and fabricated Schedules C with made-up business losses.
