It’s 10.45am on a cool Wednesday morning when Robbie Keane emerges to survey the main pitch at the Nepligeti sports complex, an impressive facility south-east of Budapest city centre.

Two elderly locals and a handful of cameramen are present as the new manager of Ferencvaros paces with purpose, counting steps while laying down bibs that assign starting positions for the first drill of the last session before Thursday’s Europa League encounter with AZ Alkmaar.
