Manchester United 'are working on a finance package for Jadon Sancho that would see them pay £63m now - and £27m and £18m in the next two summers'... with just one week to go until Borussia Dortmund won't sell

  • Manchester United are working on a finance package to sign Jadon Sancho
  • It would see the Red Devils pay an initial fee of £63million now for the winger
  • Then, United will pay instalments of £27m and £18m over the next two summers
  • However time is not on their side and they have just one week to agree on a deal

Manchester United are reportedly putting together a finance package to secure the summer signing of Jadon Sancho – but they only have a week to complete a move.

United are desperate to land the 20-year-old but are unable to shell out the full fee of £108million Dortmund have been asking for.

The Red Devils are still willing to meet Dortmund's valuation but will instead pay the amount in instalments, with the Premier League giants offering an initial fee of £63m now before making two further payments of £27m and £18m over the next two summers, according to German news outlet Bild.

However, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward only has a week to work out a deal to bring Sancho back to England.

If the winger ends up leaving for Dortmund's pre-season training camp in Bad Ragaz on August 10, then the deal will likely fall through, leaving United without their No 1 summer transfer target.

Reports earlier this week suggested that the talks between the two clubs are still 'between intermediaries' and have not yet reached the official stage of formal negotiations.

There were also claims that former United flop Memphis Depay could play a big part in the deal, with Dortmund viewing the Dutchman as a suitable replacement for Sancho.

When he was at United, Depay struggled to make any sort of impact, scoring just seven goals in 53 appearances.

However, he has fared rather better for Lyon, scoring 14 goals this season, while he has also impressed on the international stage for Holland over the past couple of years.

Sancho is currently away on holiday following a long yet personally successful season with Dortmund – he scored 17 Bundesliga goals and provided a highly impressive 17 assists in 32 matches.

Taking to his Instagram profile over the last few days, Sancho showed fans that he was hanging out with former Arsenal man Chuba Akpom while relaxing on holiday.

Sancho cost Dortmund just £7m from Manchester City in 2017, after he decided to leave English football in search of regular first-team opportunities at elite level.

Liverpool and Real Madrid have both been linked with the England star in recent months, though United have made the first move.

While all of European football's top clubs have been financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, United remain determined to land their man.
