Minister of Finance & The Public Service Fayval Williams
As the government prepares to move to the next phase of the Public Sector Transformation Programme, Finance Minister Fayval Williams announced on Tuesday that several lingering issues will be addressed during the upcoming fiscal year.
The first phase of the transformation resulted in significant increases in the salaries of public sector workers, including Members of Parliament as the government attempted to streamline and restructure the compensation system.
Several groups have complained that, despite the new contract period being set to commence in a matter of weeks, they are yet to receive the full compensation and benefits due to them under the current agreement.
The Jamaica Civil Service Association had previously indicated that there were issues with overtime pay and uniform allowance that were yet to be settled.
The Finance Minister said those issues will be dealt addressed.
She also sought to assure government employed medical consultants and administrative staff at UTech that their outstanding matters would be addressed in the new fiscal year.
